Combine Photos, Measurements and Notes in RoomLedger

Photos provide context, measurements provide size and notes explain what neither can show alone. Separating them makes a record harder to compare. RoomLedger can keep them in one property or room when names and dates are consistent.

Photograph in two layers

Start with a wide view showing the room and direction. Then take close-ups of defects, serial numbers, equipment or endpoints. Keep the edges and original detail, and write the exact location. For before-and-after work, use a similar angle.

Give measurements context

Add unit, method, device, endpoints and purpose. For LiDAR or AR, label the estimate and note light or surface conditions. For a tape measurement, record who measured and when. Put the value beside the relevant photo rather than in an unlabelled list.

Write notes another person can use

“Damp mark at the lower-left corner of the wall beside the window” is stronger than “wall issue.” Record what was checked, what was blocked and the next step. Before export, confirm captions, measurements and images still connect. See RoomLedger, and keep the RoomLedger measurement notes.

Use names that include property, room, record type and date without exposing unnecessary personal data. Keep a full private package and share only the relevant subset. Do not overwrite an already shared package; create a dated version. Preserve originals and avoid editing out defects.

Note: Photos and measurements remain reference evidence until independently verified.
