Record Measurement Error and Conditions in RoomLedger

A measurement without context can look more precise than it is. When using LiDAR, AR, a tape or a laser measure with RoomLedger, record the device, unit, start point, room conditions and confidence. Notes do not make a measurement more accurate; they tell the reader what purpose it can support.

Conditions to record

Write the date and time, device, method, unit, light, obstacles and special surfaces such as glass or mirrors. If furniture blocked a point, say so. Take a context photo and, when useful, a screen or endpoint image. Do not round without explaining how.

Reference versus technical measurement

A measurement for furniture layout may tolerate a different estimate from one used for construction or a contract. Record the purpose beside the measurement. For high technical requirements, check with a proper tool or qualified person. An app number is not an official survey. See RoomLedger, and compare with the RoomLedger LiDAR and AR FAQ.

Save and review

Keep the measurement beside the photo, note and property. Remeasure an important edge from another direction and record the difference rather than choosing the convenient number. When exporting PDF or CSV, check that units and limitations remain visible. Update when the room changes.

Use words such as “estimate,” “covered,” “remeasured” or “uncertain” where appropriate. Avoid long decimals that the method cannot support. Keep the date and reason when selecting among repeated readings.

Note: Accuracy depends on the device and conditions. Verify before an important decision.
