Room scanning FAQ for RoomLedger
A room scan can help you capture measurements and context quickly, but the result depends on the device, light, surfaces, obstacles and how you move. RoomLedger stores measurements, photos and notes in a property; it does not turn one scan into a professional survey.
What should you do before scanning?
Move large obstacles, add even light, clean the camera and decide which room and unit you will use. The purpose matters: a furniture estimate has different requirements from renovation work or a contract.
How are LiDAR and AR different?
LiDAR uses a depth sensor on some compatible devices. AR estimates planes or distances from the camera and device movement. Not every phone supports the same feature. Record the method and device in the note.
What if the result looks wrong?
Measure an important edge again from another direction, check the unit and review the start and end points. Mirrors, glass, dark walls, narrow corners and furniture can affect tracking. If the difference is large, use a tape or another independent method and mark the app result as an estimate.
RoomLedger measurements may help with inventory, layouts and condition records. For construction, technical specifications or disputes, verify them as required. See RoomLedger.
Note: App measurements can be inaccurate and do not replace a professional survey.
