Why Export a RoomLedger ZIP Before Deleting the App or Changing iPhones?
RoomLedger can hold property records, photos, checklists, inventory, meter readings, and signatures. If you delete the app, lose the phone, or switch devices without a copy, the developer may not be able to restore your records. Exporting a ZIP first is a simple safeguard.
What the ZIP is for
A ZIP groups related property files so you can store or share them. Depending on the record, it can include reports, inventory, photos, and exported data. It does not turn a record into a legal document, but it is more useful than keeping only screenshots.
A safe export routine
Open each property and check rooms, items, photos, meter readings, keys, and signatures. Export with a property name and date, such as apartment-a-2026-10-02.zip. Extract it into a temporary folder, open the PDF, inspect photos, and confirm that important files are present.
Keep the ZIP somewhere you control, with appropriate access if it contains an address or signature. When changing phones, do not delete the old app until the copy opens successfully in the new location. A readable PDF can be useful for sharing while the ZIP remains your archive.
Deleting a copy on the phone does not delete files already sent by email, chat, or cloud storage. Review those copies separately. See RoomLedger.
Note: Keep your own copies of important records. RoomLedger cannot restore data you deleted.
