Move-Out Photo Checklist
Move-out evidence should be comparable with the move-in record. A few photos of an empty room are not enough; repeat the useful angles, record equipment, meter readings, keys and changes during the tenancy. RoomLedger can organize photos, inventory and a report, but it does not replace lease notices or legal requirements.
Check the requirements first
Read the lease for notice deadlines, repairs, cleaning, keys and handover method. Complete agreed work before the final photos when possible. Record date, property and person taking the photos. If an issue remains, show it clearly and record its status instead of making the image look better.
Repeat the move-in route
Take a wide photo from each room doorway, then walls, floor, ceiling, doors, windows, kitchen, bathroom, equipment and previously noted issues. Use the same view or room names for comparison. A close-up should have a context image; for a new mark, record location and only what is visible.
Record meters and access items
Take readable electricity and water readings, with unit and date. Count keys, remotes, cards and accessories, then compare them with the move-in list. If a lock changed or an item is missing, add the date and related communication. Do not claim an appliance works without a test.
Package with RoomLedger
Create a move-out report, group photos by room, link inventory and add captions. See RoomLedger. Export PDF, CSV or ZIP as needed, open the files and keep originals. Remove unrelated images before sharing and protect addresses, signatures and other people’s data.
Send through the lease channel and keep an acknowledgement when appropriate. Do not edit or delete originals after sending. If a deposit or dispute is involved, retain the lease, messages, images and report and ask a professional when needed.
Note: RoomLedger organizes evidence; it does not decide repair responsibility, deposit outcomes or the legal value of a report.
